Vidyia (The knowledge)

This section will be updated to show the main core of information related to the Sri Dasam Granth. There is very limited information which can be obtained regrading the Scripture and www.sridasamgranth.com will ensure that we will strive to make as much information available to the Global Sikh Diaspora Sangat.

This section will make available various texts and information. The history of the Sri Dasam Granth will be shown. The different maryadas of the scripture will be shown. As the scripture has been part of the Sikh Pysche for over 300 years it is imperative that we show how the Guru's message was formulated into the practice of the ShastarVidyia.

The scripture has been mentioned in various Sikh texts and has shaped the Gurmukhi language after Guru Gobind Singh's use of persian terms. Many Rahitnamas, quote from the Sri Dasam Granth banis and we see how in peaceful times under Ranjit Singh the Granth takes its prominence.

The main problem for many Sikhs has been the access to this most important scripture and only in the last several years has information been made available. However it should be noted that the many Sikh Scholars undertook detailed reserach on the Sri Dasam Granth from the 1950's onwards. The majority of this work was postive and showed that the Scripture was indeed the works of Guru Gobind Singh.

Using manuscript evidence it has been possible to formulate reasons and give us evidence as to how the scripture has formed into what we see now. The site is a result of many years of research on the Sri Dasam Granth.

The influence of the Sri Dasam Granth on the Sikhs and the Khalsa is numerous and hence this tradition of knowing the scripture should be highlighted. The Gurus wanted all the Sikhs to be aware of worldly knowledge and as a result we will ensure that we present the Vidyia of the Sri Dasam Granth.
